Studies began in Technical Illustration, where I gained a distinction, Fascinated by hyper-realism in art and wanting to continue in education I moved to Lancashire and took a place studying BA(Hons) Scientific and Natural History Illustration. This truly reinforced my passion for the natural world, with an insight to field studies and Illustrations of a specialised orientation.
Shortly into this practice the opportunity arose to have a placement on the BA(Hons) Illustration in Cornwall. Thrilled with the chance to follow dreams and live in an inspirational location, the next 3 years were spent working hard gaining my degree.
Maintaining a steady flow of commissions throughout education lead to my first published book by the age of 21, released in New York.
Represented by was the Wildlife Art Company, I was the first female Scientific and Natural History Illustrator to be taken on. The company was founded by Zoologist and TV Presenter Mark Carwardine, which later went on to become the Worlds largest stock agency of it’s kind.
Over the years exploration of drawing techniques has led to some wonderful commissioned Artworks for the Royal College of Physicians, TOAST, McGraw Hill, The Eden Project, and TWITTER. I’m delighted to announce that the RHS have now awarded me with a Gold Medal, from the 2018 Botanical Art Show, London, for my exhibition of ‘Medicinal Plants and their Symbiosis with Pollinators’.
